Using Meeting Assistant with Zoom

Updated 13 October 2026

Meeting Assistant joins Zoom meetings as a participant, to keep time and show the meeting's materials. In a meeting on its own Zoom account it can do this by itself. In a meeting hosted on another account, Zoom only lets it in on behalf of someone who has connected their Zoom account and is in that meeting. This page covers connecting, using and disconnecting your account for that.

Adding it: connecting your Zoom account

  1. Press Add on the assistant's Zoom Marketplace listing, or open zoom.rhccommunity.com and choose Sign in with Zoom.
  2. Zoom shows what the assistant is asking for; sign in and allow it.
  3. You're returned to the assistant's page, signed in.

The assistant asks Zoom for two permissions: to see your basic profile (your name, email and Zoom user ID, so it knows who connected), and to request a one-meeting "on behalf of" token, which is what lets it follow you into a meeting. It can't see your meetings, recordings, contacts or messages.

Using it

  1. Join the Zoom meeting yourself.
  2. On zoom.rhccommunity.com, paste the meeting's link (or its number and passcode) and press Join.
  3. It asks Zoom for a token for that meeting, on your behalf, and joins as a participant under its own name. If you aren't in the meeting yet, the page says it's waiting for you, for up to 10 minutes.
  4. If the meeting has a waiting room, the host admits it like anyone else.

In the meeting it isn't host, so it can't mute, admit or remove people. It leaves when you press Ask it to leave, when the meeting ends, or when it's been alone for a while.

Removing it: disconnecting your Zoom account

Either of these deletes your connection and the tokens straight away:

After that, it can no longer join meetings on your behalf. You can connect again at any time.
